Online Marketing Tools And Software | A Necessity For Success?

internet marketing tools and software
Written by NT Izuchi

Is there a real demand for all the online marketing tools and software that we see in the market place today? There’s good argument for both sides answering no and yes.

But ultimately if people are buying every tool and software that comes out then I guess we have our verdict right? Well, not so fast…

Those of us who have stood the test of time online know that most of these tools and software are no where close to a necessity when it comes to building and income generating presence online.

The truth is that these hyped up sales pages promoting these tools and software are completely tailored specifically to the newbies who don’t quite understand yet that shortcuts to long term success online don’t exist.ย  But it doesn’t end there…

As you can see I am biased towards them and you’re probably asking why?

  1. Well as I mentioned earlier I’ve managed to stand the test of time without them and even have my own coaching program.
  2. Secondly I’ve been burned before, particularly as a newbie, thinking some magic push button software can make me rich.

My advice is this. If you are truly looking to brand yourself then focus on producing quality content that people will appreciate. Don’t produce high quantities of garbage that tools and software help share.

Below are some “types” of tools that you should stay away from!

Beware of these online marketing tools and software…

  • Content scrapers – these software basically steal content from other websites and of course the newbies often times fall for it and put the duplicate content on their websites. Not only do the search engines like Google pick up on it with it’s Panda algorithm but there is software out there to alert the original offer that some has stolen their content.
  • Email scrapers – similar to content scrapers, these tools basically steal emails from websites and allow the users to blast out unwarranted emails to the recipients. This is a huge violation of privacy and not the best way to build a list. Ever got a random email from someone trying to sell you something? Chances are they used one of these.
  • SEO backlinking tools – These tools single-handedly wiped out entire websites when Google’s Panda algorithm came into play. This SEO algorithm lowered the rank of โ€œlow qualityโ€ sites that manipulate the number of links pointing to the page. Focus on creating organic backlinks from websites relative to your content.
  • Keyword ranking tools – When I mention these kinds of tools I mean the ones that you have to pay for. Seriously, if you want to get a feel for which keywords to target then use free tools like Google keyword planner and Google trends to get a sense of the search volume and trending keywords or phrases respectively. Don’t pay for this stuff.

These are just few but the list can go on for days and if you run into any that are in question feel free to contact me and I’ll try and give an unbiased opinion…

The strategies that work best today particularly for newbies are actually quite simple. Yes they require tools but none that drain your pockets or guarantee you success.

In fact, nothing can guarantee you success other than your will and drive to do so. That is it!

Tools and software you should own…

  • WordPress Site – Unlike social media or other media sharing sites and profiles, a WordPress site (domain name) is yours to own and allows you to have full control over your brand online. Having a website allows you to create content on specific topics within your niche and paves the way for you to earn trust and become an authority in your niche.
  • Hosting Service – To run a WordPress site you need a hosting service. An analogy to explain the relationship between a website and hosting service is like buying a house (website) and calling the power company to get the lights turned on (hosting service). There are some good ones out there like HostGator and Bluehost.
  • Yoast SEO Plugin – This is a free plugin that you can install in your WordPress back office and it’s an all-in-one SEO tool to gauge how well you’re on-on page SEO is performing. It’s extremely easy to use and costs you absolutely nothing.
  • Autorepsonder Software – When it comes to making money online the majority of the sales conversions you will make will come from a series of follow ups you have with your subscribers list and you can’t build this list without an autoresponder service. There are some really good ones on the market like Aweber, GetResponse, and MailChimp.
  • Capture/Landing Page – Here is where you will be collecting the necessary information, typically emails, in order to remain in contact with your potential clients. There are tons of services in the market place, both free and premium, that provide these such as Simple Lead Capture, OptimizePress, and Lead Pages. I created this page using OptimizePress.

What about syndication and automation?

I do use social media syndication tools to save time in promoting on different platforms because it’s important that people know about your business, products, and services.

But do you need to spam your way to brand awareness? Absolutely not! It’s annoying for people connected with you on social media and also for the social media outlets and search engines themselves.

So if you plan on using software and tools that automatically syndicate your content to social media and other platforms they can be very effective but use them with consideration.

A one stop shop of resources…

Now here’s the truth. You will have to spend some money in order to get quality services however you don’t have to break the bank in order to have them all.

Sometimes it can be overwhelming having to manage these different services especially if they are all coming from different companies and brands.

I’ve recently bought into a service that literally incorporates everything you need to be successful online and for an extremely low cost.

I don’t promote everything under the sun however I do understand simplicity and value when I see it so if you are looking for a “one stop shop” of resources for entrepreneurs to conduct business online you may want to take a look at this!

  • Hello NT IZUCHI, Awesome video my friend, you are very good on camera, Love your energy!
I do agree we do need to find some tools that we cant live without yet then there are those we don’t need..
    LOL

Loved Your choice of WP as #1 along with the wonderful reasons as to why we need this. This is our real estate for life..

    Thanks for sharing.. Chery :))

    • Hey Chery,

Yes, I love, love, love video for personalization and branding! Once you become comfortable with being uncomfortable the videos work for you.

It can however be a “wild, wild west” type of environment online where it seems that tools and software will get over the hump per say. And as you agreed, not every tool and software will be useful but there are some that are 100% necessary.

Thanks for joining the conversation Chery!

      Cheers till next time…

    • Thanks Dexter! I’m excited ๐Ÿ™‚ As for the content tools are meant to help, not do all the work! Some aren’t a necessity at all and others are non-negotiable.

  • Hi NT,

Thanks for breaking down what tools we really need to use as Internet Marketers and bloggers and which ones to avoid. I know in the past i have wasted money on tools I didn’t really need and wish someone had warned me back when i got started. Right now I am using WordPress for my blog just like you recommend, it’s such a great platform and really easy to use. I don’t have the Yoast plugin yet though so thats one I might try.

    Thanks for the tips

    Sarah ๐Ÿ™‚

    • No problem Sarah and yes I wish I had warning when I first got started. To be honest though I think eventually everyone would try an unnecessary product or two. It’s part of the learning process online to try different things and quickly, or slowly, figure out what you really don’t need!

  • Hello NT,

You always provide such awesome content and I love your videos. I went to your link but could not get it to work. I was able to access the main webpage though and you are so correct, there is a lot of value all in one location for any internet marketer. Thanks for sharing.

  • Good overview of the tools and software that online marketers actually do need, as well as those that they need to avoid using. There really are not a lot of tools necessary, so if someone is serious about making a business of their blog and online presence, they should use the best quality ones. I was curious about your recommended “one-stop-shop” solution, but your link is broken.
Thanks for the good information here, NT. It’s always a pleasure to stop by your blog.

  • Hi NT, Thank you for sharing your knowledge of online tools needed and not needed. I do feel very sorry for new people coming on and they get hit with all this stuff; “You have to have this.” No wonder there is such a high failure rate.

  • Hello again NT! Always a pleasure to visit your blog!

I totally agree that shortcuts to online success don’t exist. It takes a lot of hard work and putting yourself out there.

You mention Google’s Panda Algorithm but I didn’t know anything about it. I don’t copy other people’s content because it’s unethical and I make my own. I don’t want to regurgitate other online content, it has no value. Looks like Google knew this a long time ago and penalizes people who do so; glad I didn’t have to learn the hard way!

Very nice capture page with OptimizePress. Great information in this post NT!

    Thank you!

    Deborah
